We made these Ground Chicken Sloppy Joe’s the other night and OMG we loved them. This recipe is a take on classic Sloppy Joe’s, but with a spin. I made these for my parents and my fiance Kevin (and they can be a pretty picky crowd) and they loved them too. So it’s safe to say, this recipe is good. We used regular hamburger buns so any bun or bread of choice works perfectly. I hope you enjoy this as much as we did. I can’t wait to make them again. We tried the WW recipe from the WW app and made a few adjustments to adapt the tastes to our liking. If you are interested in trying the WW app here is a link for a free month.
Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1/3 medium Uncooked onion finely chopped
- 1/2 medium Bell Pepper finely chopped
- 4 medium Garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp Chili powder
- 1/2 tsp Dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp Dry mustard
- 1 pound uncooked lean ground chicken
- 1/4 cup Barbecue Sauce
- 1/4 cup No Sugar Added Ketchup
- 1/2 Cup canned tomato sauce
- 4 Mixed Grain Hamburger Buns
Instructions
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Then add the onion, pepper, and garlic. Cook, stirring occasionally, until softened, about 5 minute. Stir in the chili powder, oregano, and mustard.
- Add the ground chicken and cook, stirring to break up the meat, until no longer pink, 3-4 minutes. Stir in the barbecue sauce ketchup and tomato sauce, and cook until slightly thickened, about 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and serve on the hamburger rolls. Yields 1 roll with 3/4 cup meat.
Notes
The original recipe is taken from the WW App. I did not create this recipe but I added my own twist to it and just wanted to share my thoughts and experience with making this recipe.
