Disney’s California Adventure Food and Wine Festival 2022 takes place inside the California Adventure Theme park directly across the esplanade from the Disneyland Theme Park. To enjoy all of the Food, Drinks and Merchandise available at this festival you will need to have a valid Ticket for Theme Park entry as well as a Reservation. My fiancé Kevin and I got to attend the opening day of Disney’s California Adventure Food and Wine Festival 2022 and it was so amazing. We got to try so many different foods and drinks and spent the day just having fun.
For me, being someone who struggles with my relationship with food, going to food festivals, is hard. For so long I struggled with a binge and restrict mentality, where I either completely restrict food or I eat everything in sight. Finding that middle ground has been hard for me but it is definitely something I am really working on overcoming. Since Kevin and I do love going to Disney so much, this fear I had of food really needed to be addressed.
So much of my life has been put on hold because of my weight, fear of gaining more weight, my own insecurities with my body, and this fear of food. I am in eating disorder recovery after being diagnosed with a binge eating disorder and one thing we are working on is this fear of food and the binge and restrict, or all or nothing mentality. One of the biggest things helping me overcome this is actually allowing myself to eat food, enjoy food, try new foods and really listen to my body.
Going to Disneyland has really helped me with this. It forces me to really work on this, in the real world. Enjoying my life is helping me overcome this mentality of I can’t eat anything or I have to eat everything.
Going to the Food and Wine Festival was a huge win for me. I allowed myself to try so many different foods, stopped if I was full, threw something away if I did not like it, and enjoyed the foods I like without any guilt. I was so proud of myself for listening to my body, trusting myself, and putting everything I have been working on and learning in therapy into practice.

Remember even if you struggle with your weight, relationship with food, or the all or nothing mentality- you should still do what makes you happy, live your life, enjoy the food and do what feels good for you. There are no good or bad foods, we are not good or bad for eating something and we can find a middle ground. So thank you Disney for helping me actually find my happiness again, helping me overcome my eating disorder, and helping me to believe in myself again. Recovery is possible- we just must never give up!
