Fitness

I never would have thought that I would say this but fitness has become a huge part of my life…I actually LOVE working out.  I love how it makes me feel, the people I have met while exercising and putting together new outfits to wear to the gym.

500 is a big number.  It is also never a number that I ever imaged that I would EVER see on a scale.  I remember that day so well.  I stepped on the scale for the first time in forever and it read 510.2 pounds.  I was sad, angry and devastated that my weight was so completely out of hand.  It was at that moment I decided that I needed to change.  I wanted to change.  But where do I start first?     To be honest, it was a while before I really began working out and even longer before I joined a gym.  For me, the best thing was to break it down into parts, and not just jump right in and say “ok today I am going to lose over 300 pounds”.  I set small goals, and when I accomplished them, I set new goals.  That was the same thing with starting a gym.  I worked up the confidence in myself and my body before I ever thought about joining a gym or before I stepped foot into a gym.  But when the day came and I decided that I actually wanted to stop working out at home and face my fears and actually walk my booty into a gym, that was the day that my life and my body changed forever.         I decided to join a bootcamp style gym where it was group classes of both cardio and weights mixed together.  There were…

Happy Friday!  This past weekend and week have been amazing!  I went to Los Angeles and had the opportunity to attend my very first fit expo!  I also had no idea what to expect or how this was going to go. To be honest, I was a little nervous.  Those feelings of self doubt and lack of self confidence came rushing back.  Would I be good enough?, would I fit in?, would they like me?….would I look out of place at a fit expo?  I was super nervous! On top of all of that, I was nervous and anxious for everyone I was going to meet.  Would they like me?  Would I fit in?   I think this is a very interesting topic to discuss and I think something that is so important…more on the fit expo later.  I think it is only natural to sometimes have feelings of “I don’t belong” or “will they like me”.  One thing that has helped me over the years is to tell myself that “it is not about whether they like me, or whether I fit in.”  When I start freaking out and going into panic mode I need to take a deep breath and just calm down.  The whole plane ride over to LA (which is less than an hour) I kept telling myself to breathe.  I told myself how far I have come on my journey and I deserve to be there just as much as everyone else.  At the end…

After losing over 350 pounds I have come up with items that have really helped me over the years and items that I think are perfect for anyone trying to lose weight, become healthier, or someone who is already into health and fitness or anyone who has been talking about becoming healthier this new year!  I am listing items I love, and that Kevin loves as well!  I also think giving the gift of gift cards to health and fitness stores, grocery stores, the gym, classes to try, etc would be very helpful to someone too!  When you are able to join someone on their journey it makes all the difference in the world so I think giving that gift and showing that you are there to help support someone who is maybe deciding to embark on a weight loss journey is a huge gift that will mean so much!  Below are some of my favorite items and I hope you can get some great ideas for others or even for yourself if you need gift ideas!!  Kitchen Gadgets/Items  Cookbooks  Fitness/Recovery Gear              Plus Workout Gear Women’s Workout Gear Men’s Workout Gear

So you fell off the wagon.  You were doing so great with your healthy eating, working out, drinking all of your water…and then something just happened.  You kinda sorta found yourself having days, weeks or even months where you went a little off plan.  You had a lot of parties, gatherings, found you had no time to cook or were eating out every night.  Or maybe you were out of town for work or even on vacation.  Whatever the reason, you are now…here.  The scale went up, your jeans won’t button and you are really upset, discouraged and feel like you failed.  You dont know what do, or how to fix the problem.  I felt this exact way several times along my journey.  You are not alone!  I get it.  We are doing great and then..life happens and we find ourselves slipping back into some old patterns.  For me, surgery really threw me for a loop.  I was unable to workout for weeks…months…and was sitting at home.  I was bored.  I felt tired and weak.  I was a little upset and angry at myself.  To be honest, the urge to binge out on chips while I watched tv and feel sorry for myself crossed my mind several times.   I would be lying if I said I did not allow myself to have a few treats while I recovered. I get it.  I know it is hard.  I know how it feels to work so hard and find yourself feeling stuck.…
