I don’t know about you but I love shopping!!! But it is a very dangerous hobby to have especially when I was on my weight loss journey and I felt like I needed new clothes (and shoes) every few months because nothing fit anymore.
When I was losing weight, I rewarded myself along the way. When I hit a certain goal, or was able to complete a whole workout, or even if I just didn’t talk negatively about myself for a week. My treats were always non food related…always! I had such an unhealthy relationship with food, which is a huge reason why I was over 5oo pounds to begin with, and I was not only on a journey to lose weight and love myself again, but change the relationship I had with food.
I would treat myself to a manicure, a new lipstick or a new shirt quite often. Since I loved shopping, and I am not made of money, I loved sales and going to the outlets to find so many of my treats. So when Black Friday came along, I used that as a way to not only buy gifts for my friends and family for Christmas, but I used this as a time to treat myself or stock up on some new items that I needed.
It was mostly new shoes, pants, jeans and some staples like basic shirts that I could wear with everything. As I began losing weight my love for working out happened and I would also use this sale as a time to stock up on new workout gear, new workout shoes and some of my favorite protein powders and snacks. I think one of the most shocking things about my weight loss journey and losing over 300 pounds is how much my shoe size went down. I went from a size 9.5 to a size 6.5. So new shoes were definitely something I kept my eyes open for during this sale. One thing I am keeping my eyes open for this year is a coat, since I still do not own one that fits!
I have decided to share some of my favorite stores that I love to shop at, and some stores that I used to shop at when I was heavier, and share the sales that they are having and some items that I am loving.
I used to be all about going out at midnight and actually going to the stores and getting all the deals and rolling back home at 5am with all my treasures! But I think this year I may stay in bed, with some nice hot coffee, and shop online…but we will see!
