Tips for How I Stopped Comparing Myself to Others

Along my weight loss journey, I was constantly comparing where I was to others and constantly wishing I was farther along.  I found myself wishing I was at the place others were, and saying “I wish I had her body.” I was so focused on everyone else, that at the time, I never realized all of the amazing things that I was doing or just how far along I really had come myself!  When you are constantly focused on the finish line and worrying about what others are doing, you have no time to recognize or realize just how great you are!  You are amazing just the way you are! Along my journey I was told that “comparison is the thief of joy” and it wasn’t until much later on my journey that I realized and understood what that really meant. Finally, I realized that if I wanted to fully love myself, take care of myself and believe in myself then I had to focus on well…myself. Comparing yourself to others is easy to do.  I am sure at one point or another we have all done it.  Yes I have to admit that I sometimes still find myself slipping back into those old ways of thinking and say, “I wish I was more like her” or “I wish I had what she has.”  But these tips have really helped me to try and overcome that constant need to compare myself, my journey or my…

My Top Tips For How I Find My Own Sunshine and Continue My Personal Growth

We are all on a journey.  That journey is life.  Life can be…tricky.  It has a way of knocking us down and kicking us when we feel like we can’t get any lower.  It also can be wonderful and we can travel down paths that we only ever imagined and learn more about ourselves than we ever though possible. For me, spring is always my time of the year where I truly believe that anything is possible!  The flowers that grow from seeds buried underneath some dirt, finally found their sunshine and blossomed into beautiful flowers. Each flower is different and unique and no one is exactly like another.  Each one had to fight its way to push through the dirt  and find the sunshine to fully blossom.  No matter how deeply we feel like we have fallen and are buried under the dirt and can not get up we must remember that we must fight like those seeds to push through that dirt and find that sunshine.  If the sunshine is not there we must make it for ourselves.  Spring reminds me that anything is possible and that I am the one who is ultimately in charge of my own happiness, my own sunshine. For many years I struggled with my own self worth and my body image and felt like I was kicked down so far that I definitely did not have the strength to get back up.  No matter what you are…

Stop Dreading Mondays, and Rock those RED Pants!

Monday is just another day to be killing it.  Rock those skinny jeans.  Throw on some lipsticksS.  Set your goals for the week and know that you are capable crushing them.  Monday should not be a day we dread.  Monday is just a day.  The first day of a new week.  A chance to start over. Start fresh.  Keep moving in the right direction.  We cannot change the past but we are in charge of the future.   A few years ago I set a goal for myself to lose over 300 pounds.  I knew it was going to take a lot of hard work and discipline.  I did not focus on how long it would take me, or dread going to the gym, or even hate eating the food I was eating.  I kept my big goal in mind, but would set small goals along the way.  Goals I could accomplish every week. For me, Mondays were just the start of a new week.  The start of another week where I would become closer and closer to my goals.  A chance for me to crush the smaller goals I had for myself that week.  Every Monday I set new goals – even if they were the same as every Monday before that.  Eat the food on your menu, workout 4 times a week, drink lots of water, be fearless and most importantly love yourself.  That was my goal every Monday.  So at the end of the…

Lymphatic Massage to Help Me Recover From Surgery #5

Skin removal surgeries take a lot out of you, not just the days, or weeks leading up to it, but for several weeks, months even after you have the surgery.  I always say for me, skin removal surgery has been 1000% worth it, and now, as I am recovering from my 5th surgery, I still 1000% agree.  Since I had surgery on my legs this time, my surgeon recommended that I  have lymphatic massages done to help the recovery process.  I have had several massages now, and I have to say I notice a huge difference in not only my legs, but my whole body.  For me, I am still super swollen in not only my legs, but my whole body which is completely normal.   Although lymphatic massages are not the most relaxing massages, they do help tremendously!   Before I talk about what is working for me in terms of my massages, I want to just briefly talk about what lymphatic massages are and why I am having them done.  I am not a doctor and I would definitely consult with your physician/ surgeon before you do anything, but I want to just give you the generic definition of what lymphatic massage is. Lymphatic massages help to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste product away from the tissues.  So basically, they can help reduce the amount of fluid, waste, in your body and help to get it out. For me, I still have a lot…
