Stop Dreading Mondays, and Rock those RED Pants!

Monday is just another day to be killing it.  Rock those skinny jeans.  Throw on some lipsticksS.  Set your goals for the week and know that you are capable crushing them.  Monday should not be a day we dread.  Monday is just a day.  The first day of a new week.  A chance to start over. Start fresh.  Keep moving in the right direction.  We cannot change the past but we are in charge of the future.   A few years ago I set a goal for myself to lose over 300 pounds.  I knew it was going to take a lot of hard work and discipline.  I did not focus on how long it would take me, or dread going to the gym, or even hate eating the food I was eating.  I kept my big goal in mind, but would set small goals along the way.  Goals I could accomplish every week. For me, Mondays were just the start of a new week.  The start of another week where I would become closer and closer to my goals.  A chance for me to crush the smaller goals I had for myself that week.  Every Monday I set new goals – even if they were the same as every Monday before that.  Eat the food on your menu, workout 4 times a week, drink lots of water, be fearless and most importantly love yourself.  That was my goal every Monday.  So at the end of the…

Lymphatic Massage to Help Me Recover From Surgery #5

Skin removal surgeries take a lot out of you, not just the days, or weeks leading up to it, but for several weeks, months even after you have the surgery.  I always say for me, skin removal surgery has been 1000% worth it, and now, as I am recovering from my 5th surgery, I still 1000% agree.  Since I had surgery on my legs this time, my surgeon recommended that I  have lymphatic massages done to help the recovery process.  I have had several massages now, and I have to say I notice a huge difference in not only my legs, but my whole body.  For me, I am still super swollen in not only my legs, but my whole body which is completely normal.   Although lymphatic massages are not the most relaxing massages, they do help tremendously!   Before I talk about what is working for me in terms of my massages, I want to just briefly talk about what lymphatic massages are and why I am having them done.  I am not a doctor and I would definitely consult with your physician/ surgeon before you do anything, but I want to just give you the generic definition of what lymphatic massage is. Lymphatic massages help to encourage the natural drainage of the lymph, which carries waste product away from the tissues.  So basically, they can help reduce the amount of fluid, waste, in your body and help to get it out. For me, I still have a lot…

I Cannot Wait To Get Back In The Gym!

I cannot wait until I can get back into the gym and start working out again. These new legs are so ready to get moving again.  Honestly, even though I am so ready to be back, I am a little nervous too. I keep reminding myself that little setbacks, or not being able to lift as heavy or go as hard is not a big deal.  I remind myself that I am on a journey and that there is no finish line.  I have to remind myself that being a little “weaker” since I have been recovering from surgery does not make me weak.  Sometimes we all need to remind ourselves that when we are on a fitness and health journey, that there is no finish line and that as long as we keep moving in the right direction, and bettering ourselves and our health, then that is all that matters.  Even though surgery might have set me back a little, I would not change it for the world because the changes it has already made in my overall mental and physical health are more than worth the time away from the gym.  “I am learning everyday to allow the space between where I am, and where I want to be, to inspire me and not terrify me.”   I feel like I have been living in this outfit too.  This top is everything and I am in love with this purple color (well all of the…

Workout Q&A With My Trainer.

500 is a big number.  It is also never a number that I ever imaged that I would EVER see on a scale.  I remember that day so well.  I stepped on the scale for the first time in forever and it read 510.2 pounds.  I was sad, angry and devastated that my weight was so completely out of hand.  It was at that moment I decided that I needed to change.  I wanted to change.  But where do I start first?     To be honest, it was a while before I really began working out and even longer before I joined a gym.  For me, the best thing was to break it down into parts, and not just jump right in and say “ok today I am going to lose over 300 pounds”.  I set small goals, and when I accomplished them, I set new goals.  That was the same thing with starting a gym.  I worked up the confidence in myself and my body before I ever thought about joining a gym or before I stepped foot into a gym.  But when the day came and I decided that I actually wanted to stop working out at home and face my fears and actually walk my booty into a gym, that was the day that my life and my body changed forever.         I decided to join a bootcamp style gym where it was group classes of both cardio and weights mixed together.  There were…
